'Overlooked'

Oil on arches oil paper 16.5"x22" The 'common' rock can often be just that, 'a rock'. But when viewed on this scale, and painted with just the stone as the subject, and removing the background, making the stone itself the star of the piece, is intended to generate a new found appreciation for the imperfect and overlooked.

'Pigment and Practice'
'Pigment and Practice'

Oil on gallery birch panel 30"x40" 2017. Depicted is hematite, a vastly mined iron ore along with deposits of gold, a highly sought after luxury. The painting speaks of humanities need to progress in an ever advancing industrious world, while maintaining our consumerism of luxury items. These beautiful naturally occurring pieces of earth exist perfectly just as they are, yet we break them down and refine them into things more "useful" or "attractive" until we are satisfied with them.

'Collide'
'Collide'

Oil on linen wrapped gallery panel. 30"x30" A hyperrealistic representation of a mineral in its most natural state, before being mined and broken down for its more common uses in our society. The painting seeks to allow the viewer a moment to slow down and look closely at the beauty in earth's most raw form. When viewed on this scale, the viewer is allowed into the space, becoming part of the piece and taking on a new appreciation for all the small things that would otherwise be overlooked.
